History of Quepos
Quepos is the canton number 6 of the province of Puntarenas, on the central Pacific coast of the country, divided into three districts that border
the north with Tarrazú, Dota and Pérez Zeledón, to the west with Parrita, to the east with Osa and to the south with the Pacific Ocean. It was
founded on October 30, 1948 under the name of Aguirre, name with which it was named until February 2015, when the unanimous vote in the Legislative
Assembly was agreed on the change of official name. The same census details that the economically active population is distributed as follows:
- Primary Sector: 17.0%
- Secondary Sector: 13.4%
- Tertiary Sector: 69.6%
